IT ALL STARTED WITH A CHICKEN...
The best ideas tend to come unexpectedly - and so not only grill enthusiasts but also a chicken played a key role in the birth of Grill Control. It was supposed to be cooked standing up in a beer can and then eaten, but ideally it needed a constant temperature on the grill. As a result, a participant in the roast always had to adjust the grill and control the temperature and could not really take part in the company - we all know that. So it was agreed that this should be easier in today's age of smart devices - and so a chicken with a beer can became the birthing aid for the Grill Control...
Rolf Hilzinger and Klaus Asshauer, managing directors of Lakeside Innovation GmbH, simply couldn't let go of this idea, so they started product development in 2019. Since they both have a technical background - Rolf Hilzinger as a PhD in computer science, Klaus Asshauer as an engineer - the theoretical basis was there. And thanks to the passion for barbecue that they both share, the user's perspective was also ensured. Always convinced of their concept, the product has been intensively improved in recent years. The team has also grown: app developers, product and graphic designers as well as marketing specialists are now an integral part.
After almost 2 years of development, Lakeside Innovation GmbH - located on the edge of Lake Constance in Radolfzell - was founded in 2021. Grill Control is the first, but not the only product. Other electronic products will follow as planned. The Grill Control itself is "Made in Germany". The development and production of the final product takes place entirely in Germany.
And so when the question comes whether the chicken or the egg came first, the conclusion remains: for us it was the chicken!!!
